Where can I get tahini to make hummus?

March 72010

I want to make hummus but we don’t have any international stores around here. I’m wondering if you all know if some grocery store like Walmart, Kroger or perhaps Whole Foods carry tahini.

Or could you perhaps recommend a substitute for the tahini although I’d rather not go down that routine if possible.

Thanks for your help!

Any Whole Foods store will have it.

I recently bought some at Kroger… in the healthy food section.

some of the Krogers here are real big and some are real small…I went to one of the big ones.

    good luck

If it isn’t in the area with the Peanut Butter – check the Health Foods section. Around here, Kroger, Safeway and Albertson’s all carry it.

If not – ask – I found it at Safeway with the cooking oils. I don’t know why they put it there – but there it was.

Also – it isn’t always in a glass or plastic jar – sometimes it is canned.

You can substitute peanut butter for tahini.

However, I have seen tahini at Whole Foods.
