International Money Order in Singapore?

March 112010

Hello everyone.
I want to purchase some merchandise from an online US store.
They only accept payment through credit cards, paypal, checks or money order.
Money order is the only method of payment which I have access.
For money order, they only accept money order in USD$ issued from a US bank. I live in Singapore.
How do I go about sending the money order to them?
Or anyone in Singapore with paypal or credit cards, can you please help me purchase the items first?

I live in Singapore too.

If they are talking about an International Postal Money Order (IPMO), it’s actually the Foreign Money Order that’s issued by Singpost.

Go down to any Singapore Post office and tell them that you would like to send a Foreign Money Order to somewhere (in this case, the US). They’ll give you a form to fill in, you pay the amount you’re supposed to pay, and the post office will send the money order on your behalf to the addressee. If they give you something that you’re supposed to post yourself, it’s the wrong one.

Sometimes, though, I can pay for money orders with an International Bank Draft, which is also issued by Singpost. It works exactly the same as a money order, except the difference is that you have to pay a commission of $8, and will have to send it yourself.

I would ask the store to clarify about whether they can receive bank drafts or not, because not all stores accept IBDs.
