Global Boycott Divestment & Sanctions (BDS) Day of Action against Israeli Apartheid – Montreal

On March 30, 2010, as the world watches Israel ramp up its construction of illegal Jewish-only settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank with apparent impunity, Montrealers took to the streets as part of the Global BDS Day of Action against Israeli apartheid. The protest in Montreal takes place alongside similar actions in Egypt, England, France, Ireland, Japan, Scotland, the US and many other countries and is part of the growing international campaign for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions, or BDS, against Israeli apartheid.

Montrealers picketed in Phillips Square, across from The Bay department store, encouraging the boycott of three products and one store:

Ahava Dead Sea products, made in an illegal settlement from stolen Palestinian natural resources, sold at The Bay department stores

Israeli-made clothing and sports accessories, sold at Mountain Equipment Co-op stores

Wines from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights (Syrian territory), sold at SAQ stores

Chapters-Indigo bookstores, whose majority shareholders have established the Heseg Foundation for Lone Soldiers which provides scholarships and other support to former lone soldiers in the Israeli military

While Bloom Projects International and its sister company Bloom Clothing are not religiously affiliated, we feel like any social program which fosters positive growth is worth our time and money. Wether the cause is based in Christian, Muslim, Jewish or secular ideologies, as long as the program benefits those whom it is supposed and plays a larger impact on the world, we will promote it.

Produced by Bloom Projects International, this video will surly touch your hart. It depicts the effects AIDS/HIV has on in individuals and societies which we may think we understand. Some are even sick of seeing it. But there is a bigger picture….what happens to the kids who are left behind.

In this trailer, you will see a village that has been ravaged by the desease and the parentless children it left behind .

During Bloom Clothing’s partnership with Adventures in Missions who is currently supplying relief to this area, we have been blessed and saddened to see what goes on in the small African country of Swaziland, specifically the village of Nsoko.

The sadness comes from the stories, pictures, and videos of those in need. However, we see so much hope, desire and potential in the people of this country, we can’t help looking forward to what the future has in store. The types of actives and programs emerging in this village are beginning to loosen the grip HIV/AIDS has on this community. That said, they just needs a little push to continue fighting.
